“Bear in mind, that most of our students come from quintiles 1-3 secondary schools, meaning they are not from wealthy families and therefore need the education to better their circumstances. We are disturbed that suspected drug dealers want to distract our students’ journeys,” university spokesperson, Dr. Victor Kgomeswana, commented.

He said they were thankful to the police for their efforts in apprehending the suspects, and the university called on students to approach qualified health and counselling facilities if they need help.

“We encourage them to join performing arts and sporting programmes, among other extra-curricular activities to keep busy and away from substances that will destroy their lives.”
