Worthy donation to special needs centre in Mankweng

Tshepang Disabilities Crèche and Boarding rely on help from the business community in order to house a growing number of children in need of specialised care.

POLOKWANE -Vuma Fibre has answered the call to assist Tshepang Disabilities Crèche and Boarding.

The crèche, which is situated in Unit G in Turfloop, Mankweng caters for children between the ages of one and 15.

Tshepang Disabilities Crèche and Boarding is growing rapidly, and increasingly relying on help from the business community in order to house a growing number of children in need of specialised care.

The centre currently houses 22 children – 11 are daily learners while 11 are boarders, and the number is expected to increase to 35 in coming weeks.

Vuma, a fibre infrastructure provider, has led the charge as the main sponsor of the centre’s recent facility upgrade project, while also urging other businesses and community leaders to get involved.

This centre was founded by Rose Moratamotho in 2019, as a result of her struggle to find a suitable early childhood development centre for her autistic son.

She established a nurturing home for the township’s disabled children, who are often abandoned or neglected because of the fact that they need specialised care and attention.

Tshepang is open 24 hours a day, and provides primary care, including nappy changes, feeding, washing and specialised toilet training, as most of the children can’t walk.

“It is truly heart-breaking to watch defenceless children denied the care they need, simply because they come from poverty. We find them stuck in circumstances that set them up for a life of isolation and desperation. This donation may not seem like much, but to us, it means the world.”

Vuma donated necessities such as clothes, food, toiletries, nappies, tables, chairs, cleaning supplies, a portable sound system, used clothing, and will provide free fibre internet connectivity.

Lehlasedi Nambo, Vuma regional sales operations manager in Limpopo said it is rewarding rewarding to make such a deep impact in the lives of fragile, yet resilient young people.

“At Vuma, we believe we can empower the most vulnerable members of society to stand a chance at a happy and successful future. To ensure that the effects of our positive work goes further, we will be working closely with Rose and her team to uplift the centre and motivate the local community and other businesses to donate or assist in any manner they can.”

Vuma has called on individuals and corporates to lend a hand in supporting Tshepang Disabilities Crèche and Boarding to come on board and ensure that these children are taken care of.
