LIMPOPO – More than 100 young girls and boys from the rural village of Mbilwi-Ha Tshimange near Sibasa recently received a school shoe donation from the Zazi Foundation in Thohoyandou.

The brain behind the campaign, MphoMakosholo, said her foundation first visited the village in December 2022 and donated clothes to rural women, girls and boys in Mbilwi-Ha Tshimange village which is under the jurisdiction of the traditional leader ThovheleGole Mphaphuli.

“We don’t want to see these young boys and girls going to school barefoot.

“Our foundation also helps rural learners with shoes and uniforms, so they can have proper uniforms,” said Makosholo.

Makosholo, who was joined by staff members, handed over 100 pairs of shoes to learners on April 1, with the handover ceremony being done in the chief’s kraal of Vhamusanda Mashoneleo Tshimange.

A community member who received shoes for his son, Masindi Tshifularosaid said life was tough in the villages, and that they appreciate the gesture.

According to Tshimange, the community in his jurisdiction lives in an impoverished environment with many parents being unable to afford school uniforms for their children.
