Limpopo comedian granted bail for wife’s murder case

His release was met with scorn from various community groups, including those fighting against gender-based violence.

LIMPOPO- Comedian Livhuwani Madadzhe (38) better known as SABC Livhu, who stands accused of the murder of his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela (33) was granted R50 000 bail by the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on April 13.

His release was met with scorn from various community groups, including those fighting against gender-based violence.

The courtroom where Madadzhe appeared was filled to capacity, while those who had to wait in the corridors tried to hear what was going on inside.

His case was postponed to May 8 and bail conditions include him not making contact with case witnesses.

The Ri ri Sengani Foundation and Real Man Foundation had members chanting and singing outside court, opposing the suspect’s bail.

Madadzhe was arrested on January 28, a day after his wife, who had earlier withdrew a domestic violence case against him, was murdered.

His legal representative, Adv Ntsako Hlongwane told the media that they are confident in the case they have.

“There is nothing that links the accused with the murder, not a single piece of evidence. I truly hope the people outside would come to have a better understanding of how court processes work, and the fact that the court does not rely on hearsay evidence.”

He also told the media that his client has cited his health as the main reason in his bail application.

“His continued incarceration will cause more damage to his health. Granting bail would give him the opportunity to relocate to Gauteng until the matter is finalised.”

The family spokesperson for the deceased, Collins Nengovhela said the family was still short of words to speak to the media, but that they have faith in the law and that Madadzhe will pay for his crimes.
