Burnt transformer leaves areas in Polokwane without electricity

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said no estimated time has been provided as to when power will be restored.

POLOKWANE – An Eskom transformer that feeds the Alpha substation has burnt, leading to power outages in areas outside the city.

The Polokwane Municipality says that it is aware of the problem and is working on restoring supply.

Affected areas include the Sterkop plots, Extention 44 and 65.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said no estimated time has been provided as to when power will be restored and urged residents to treat all electrical wires as live in the mean time and to switch off all appliances to avoid injury.

“The municipality will provide regular updates in terms of progress of repairs as and when received from Eskom.”
