Social Development MEC in hospital after vehicle overturns on R511

The MEC Nandi Ndalane sustained moderate to serious injuries while the driver and her protector sustained minor injuries.

POLOKWANE – The Department of Social Development have confirmed that the MEC Nandi Ndalane is being monitored in hospital following a motor vehicle incident earlier this morning (January 11).

The department’s head of communications Adele van der Linde said Ndalane and her protectors were travelling on the R511 en route to Thabazimbi for official duties when the incident occurred.

According to an accident report by the Department of Transport and Community Safety, the driver of the SUV lost control and the vehicle overturned.

The report stated that a passenger (the MEC) sustained moderate to serious injuries while the driver and the MEC’s protector sustained minor injuries.

“The MEC, the driver and the protector received medical attention on the scene and in a local hospital. They will be closely monitored for the next 24 hours,” van der Linde’s statement read.
