Limpopo farmer and wife wake up to shots fired at them

The police in Mara, outside Louis Trichardt, have launched a manhunt for an unknown suspect who fired numerous shots at a farmer and his wife.

LIMPOPO – The motive of an early morning farm attack in Mara, outside Louis Trichardt, is under investigation by Limpopo police.

A manhunt is currently underway for an unknown suspect who managed to flee the scene on foot after firing several shots at a farmer and his wife on Monday (November 28).

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the owner of the Goedgedacht farm and his wife awoke from sleep to numerous gun shots aimed at them from outside their house.

“The farm owner retaliated but the unknown suspect managed to flee the scene on foot,” a statement read.

The farmer then discovered that his wife was shot in the upper left leg and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

“Anyone with information that can aid in the suspect’s apprehension is requested to urgently contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Mukwevho on 063 684 3018, the acting branch commander Warrant Officer Maluleke on 082 414 7048, the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or the MySAPSApp,” he said.
