Top honours for Fusion and Saskia at World Luxury Hotel Awards

Fusion Boutique Hotel is no stranger to the World Luxury Hotel Awards having scooped up several awards in the past and this year is no different.

POLOKWANE – Fusion Boutique Hotel has been named the Best Luxury Small Hotel in the world while its in-house fine dining restaurant, Saskia, won a continent award for African cuisine at the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

The ceremony was hosted at the Swandor Resort Topkapi Palace in Antallya, Turkey on October 22 and has been an annual event since 2003. The awards only recognise 5-star luxury properties around the world in their respective categories.

Hotel industry professionals rate and judge each property based on pre-determined criteria and guest feedback and reviews on different portals.

A public vote is then opened for a certain period of time afterwhich the results are compiled. Fusion Boutique Hotel was voted for by the public, mostly by individuals that have booked at the hotel and had experienced the luxurious stay.

To represent Fusion Hotel in Turkey, general manager Janine Bornman and hotel owners Maria and Arnold Du Plessis attended the event and accepted their achievements on behalf of the hotel.

“We are extremely honoured to have been awarded this accolade and to be recognised as one of the best amongst some of the most amazing luxury hotels around the world. The award is motivation and confirmation that high standards and exceptional personalised service is not defined by where the hotel is located, but by the heart of every individual team member,” Janine said.

Fusion’s sister 5-star property Palala Boutique Game Lodge was awarded the Luxury Destination Hotel award.

“We would like to emphasise that Fusion is nothing without the guests that frequent it and the employees that take care of them. We would like to thank our loyal guests to the hotel and the restaurant who individually is recognised as family. But most of all, I would like to thank my management team and employees for their enduring commitment to the hotel and their passion for what they do daily,” Janine added.

She added that the ceremony was an unforgettable as guests were wined and dined with a six-course menu designed to include ingredients from the seven different regions of Turkey as well as the best Turkish wines.

“The ceremony posted with internationally acclaimed entertainment in the form of a Turkish dance group. We are grateful to World Luxury Hotels for allowing us the opportunity to compete and for what they are doing to recognise outstanding properties.”

Without letting the cat out of the bag, Janine added that Fusion is planning a few exciting additions to the property in the next couple of years, most of which can be enjoyed by the Polokwane residents as well.

“We are starting to prepare for our infamous Christmas lunch at Saskia Restaurant which will open for bookings by mid-November and it promises to be a show stopper.”
