Polokwane dancers to represent South Africa in Holland

Happy Ramaano and Adelaide Hlungwani can't imagine a life without dancing and has been in the industry for more than 15 years.

POLOKWANE – Ballroom dance partners Happy Ramaano and Adelaide Hlungwani from Polokwane have been partners since 2020 and now have the chance to represent South Africa in Holland.

The two have been in the ballroom dancing industry for more than 15 years and say ballroom dance gives them confidence, a sense of accomplishment and challenges them.

Ramaano and Hlungwani qualified to compete with the rest of the world in Europe, specifically Holland.

“I can’t imagine life without ballroom dancing. I love to dance because it visually translates emotions and stories into movement,” Hlungwani said.

They are the current reigning South African Adult Latin American award winners, a title they obtained at the official sanctioned South African Open Dance Championships (SAODC).

“We are so excited for this opportunity, but due to certain financial restraints, we hereby request Limpopo residents to assist us with donations to cover a few shortfalls that might hinder us on our way to Europe to represent the country,” Ramaano pleaded.

The pair will travel to Holland on November 2 and return on November 15.

They will need financial donations to cover them with food for the 12 days in Europe, dancing attire and shoes, as well as a makeup kit and hairdressing.

“Thank you, may God bless everyone who’s willing to assist. This means a lot to us, and most importantly, we just want to make our country proud.”

To make a donation, contact them on 079 138 72 66 or 078 203 2267.
