Uhone (9) was a learner at Tshanowa Primary School outside Thohoyandou.

His classmates, dressed in school uniform paid tribute to him saying he was among the best learners in his class.

Speaking at the funeral, circuit manager of Tshinane, Nkhangweleni Mulaudzi said they were saddened by the untimely passing of the young learner.

“It is disturbing that a young learner died at such an early age while we were still expecting him to excel in the school and eventually contribute meaningfully to society,” said Mulaudzi.

Reading the obituary, Adivhaho Dzhandzhi said the late Uhone started his crèche years in the local Tshanowa Community Crèche and later started primary school as a Gr R learner in 2018 at Tshanowa Primary.

Uhone is survived by his father Vhahangwele Dzhadzhi, mother Florence Mukwevho and two siblings, Atondaho and Ompha Dzhandzhi.

The police in Thohoyandou confirmed that an inquest has been opened. No foul play is suspected.

Acting Vhembe police spokesperson Sgt Vuledzani Dathi said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased’s body was discovered by his mother.
