The SPCA Polokwane’s manager Selma Landman told the Polokwane Review that they are attending to a case of animal abuse in the Palmietfontein area outside Polokwane.

The SPCA were alerted after a video showing a man hitting and kicking a dog on his property was circulated on social media on Wednesday (October 19).
In the video, the dog can be seen tied up on a leash as the man tugs and pulls the dog towards him.
He is then seen hitting the dog, leaning over it and kicking it before the dog runs away.
Landman told the Review that they were on the scene with the police at the time of the media query and that they are dealing with the situation.
The video has left the community angered, with many calling for the man to be arrested and the dog taken away from his care.
According to the Animals Protection Act No. 71, 1962, any person who cruelly overloads, overdrives, overides, beats, kicks, goads, ill-treats, neglects, infuriates, terrifies, tortures or maims any animal will be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or in default of payment to imprisonment.
