Polokwane cop hands himself over for wife’s murder

Police say domestic violence cannot be ruled out following the murder of Millicent Ntjana in Seshego Zone 8 last week.

POLOKWANE – A 54-year-old policeman attached to the Polokwane Flying Squad handed himself over to the police in Mogwadi in Dendron on Monday (October 17) for the murder of his wife.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the man allegedly shot and killed his wife (36) in Seshego Zone 8 last Thursday (October 13).

Mojapelo said the police were notified about the shooting by the community and on arrival, discovered the victim who had been shot several times.

She was declared dead on the scene and was identified as Millicent Ntjana.

“The suspect had already fled the scene when police arrived. The motive for the incident is unknown but domestic violence cannot be ruled out,” a statement read.

Meanwhile, the provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged couples experiencing marital problems to seek help and refrain from resorting to violence, particularly members of the SAPS who “must be protectors of society.”

The suspect is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (October 19).
