Negligent driving leads to death of 12-year-old boy in Polokwane

Three people were seriously injured and one killed in a collision on the corner of Vermilulilet and River Street this morning.

POLOKWANE – A collision on the corner of Vermikuliet and River Street earlier this morning claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy.

The officer on scene alleged that the driver of a luxury SUV entered Vermikuliet Street unsafely and collided with another sedan, according to an accident report.

The spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Community Safety Tidimalo Chuene said three other people were seriously injured.

“The possible cause of the collision has been cited as reckless/negligent driving,” she said.

The Polokwane Observer is currently awaiting confirmation from Chuene as to whether the driver responsible for the collision will be arrested or not.
