PCS drummies among the best in South Africa

PCS is proud to be branded as one of the best drum majorettes teams in the country, and owes the credit to the hard work the girls put in.

POLOKWANE – The drum majorettes team of Pietersburg Comprehensive School (PCS) took ninth place in the baton category of the South African majorette and Cheerleading Championships held at Peter Mokaba Stadium on October 5.

The young girls were competing against 24 primary schools from various provinces who showcased their skills to spectators that came to support the event.

Modikwa Mohlake, head coach of the team praised her team for giving good performances at the event.

“It was not the position we wanted but we are happy with the achievement. The competition was tough, we were against the top primary school in the country and they did well.”

She was happy with the recognition the team received from major corporations and entities in the city.

This comes after they were invited by the organisers of the Inter-Municipal Sports of South Africa (IMSSA) to perform at the opening ceremony.

“We are happy with the strides we are making in the majorettes circles. We are a brand now and everybody knows about us. This is the testimony of the hard work put in by these learners during their practice sessions everyday after school. It was good to perform at the games and we are looking to perform more at other events.”
