Collision on N1 south leads to fatality, multiple injuries
Traffic was backed up as officials tended to the scene of the incident earlier this morning, The lanes have since been cleared.
LIMPOPO – Lanes on the N1 south were closed earlier today due to a collision at about 05:30.
It was reported that a light motor vehicle collided with the rear end of a truck on the N1.25 Ysterberg.
“One of the passengers in the light motor vehicle succumbed to their injuries, while the driver and another passenger sustained injuries during the incident. The truck driver was also injured,” Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene confirmed.
Both lanes on the N1 south were reported closed earlier as officials attended the scene.
The lanes have since been cleared.
Fatigue and/or poor following distance has been cited as possible cause for the incident.
