Makhene’s on a mission to help vulnerable and child-headed families

Makhene Magoro's non-profit organisation, the Mapara a Dikolobe Project, helps under priviledged families in Mankweng and Ga-Mamabolo.

POLOKWANE – Makhene Magoro’s motto within his non-profit organisation called Mapara a Dikolobe Project is ‘harambe’.

The word ‘Harambe’ translates to ‘let’s work together’ and as a family man, Magoro lives up to the name by not only helping schools but the community as well.

Having recently adopted the Makgale Phasha Secondary School in Mankweng, Magoro told BONUS that the project aims to help the under privileged in the community, especially families where the breadwinners were retrenched as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that the organisation’s goal is to help as many vulnerable and child-headed families in the Mankweng and Ga-Mamabolo areas as possible.

“This is our pilot project for now, but we are still going to have projects such as donating food parcels, clothing, covering of school books at the beginning of the year and helping homeless individuals to get shelter, as well as cooking for orphanages,” he said.

Last month, Mapara a Dikolobe Project team hosted a board meeting to discuss which houses, schools and orphanages need attention the most in terms of donations.

“After the meeting it took a while for us to ask the community for assistance to donate to the organisation and sponsors to get involved, so that we have enough goods to donate and also know where we will start, which will be at Makgale Phasha Secondary School, and then we will proceed to more schools, and then the community,” he said.

Anyone who would like to assist the organisation can contact or WhatsApp Magoro on 072 106 6146.
