Vincent Kunutu steps down as chairperson of SCAGAG

Vincent Kunutu has been at the helm of the Seshego Community Against Crime and Gangsterism group since 2019 and leaves on a good note to broaden his career.

POLOKWANE – Seshego will remain a safe place even as he departs as chairperson of the community group, Seshego Community Against Crime and Gangsterism (Scagag).

Having served as a community leader and chairperson of Scacag since its inception in 2019, Vincent Kunutu leaves the group on a good note to broaden his career in the health and safety sector.

Scacag remains in full operation in terms of fighting crime and he is only stepping down as the chairperson, and will remain a Scacag member.

Kunutu recently announced his departure from the group as chairperson on Facebook: “I have been playing a role in the community of Seshego and surroundings. Saying farewell to an important community is inevitably going to happen, whether it’s a happy goodbye or one eliciting feelings of grief it’s not always easy to express. This is the last chance to leave a lasting impression on a community I have served.”

He added that his decision to leave Scacag comes as he wants to concentrate on other work which involves his qualifications as a health and safety graduate.

He encouraged people to keep the faith they have in the forum and in the police as the aim remains to keep Seshego crime-free.

Slight Mabotja, a founding member of Scacag, was praised by Kunutu for encouraging the community to unite to fight crime in their neighbourhood.

As a Seshego resident, Kunutu reflected on how residents were living in fear because of the crime, and that it is simply impossible to sit back and do nothing as the neighbourhood deteriorates.

“Scacag has since given the community a voice because it has the people’s trust and when they saw that perpetrators are being arrested, they saw that the collaboration with the police force, Department of Justice and the National Prosecuting Authority yields results.”

Kunutu said the group’s mission is to combat crime, gang activity and other dangers to residents’ safety, including those that make it unsafe for them to walk down the streets of Seshego.

“It’s time for me to experience what the world has to offer with the qualifications I studied for. I have learned, served, and will continue to contribute where I can.”
