Makhadzi wants her one woman show to unite the community

Makhadzi's One Woman Show at the Makhuvha Stadium outside Thohoyandou on October 1 will incorporate the Tshikona and Tshigombela culture and dances into the anticipated concert.

LIMPOPO – Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, or Makhadzi as most people know her, quickly made a name for herself in the music industry.

Now, the superstar will make her way back to her hometown with her much-anticipated One Woman Show concert at the Makhuvha Stadium outside Thohoyandou on October 1.

Makhadzi grew up in Ha-Mashamba, Tshivhangani outside Elim and outgrew national stages as of late.

She recently graced the stages in Canada and the United Kingdom after she performed her concert in a fully booked stadium in Botswana, and upon her return to South Africa she decided to take the party home where she will host a proudly Venda celebration and incorporate the Tshikona and Tshigombela culture and the dances into her show.

As part of her homecoming, Makhadzi said she will visit her former school, bearing gifts. She promises the trip to be an emotional reunion as she will revisit her childhood stomping ground where her music dreams were hatched.

Makhadzi always tries to uplift others in her communities and during her concert she will give local women who are street vendors the opportunity to sell their products at the venue, free of charge. She supports a local home that takes care of children with special needs and she guarantees is to be one of her stops during her visit.

Just like Makhadzi was more than a girl dancing at taxi ranks, the One Woman Show is more than just another concert, according to her.

“The show is supposed to bring people together and inspire fans and musicians, especially Venda musicians. I want to invite all of the musicians around Venda to be at the show and celebrate together. I hope to unite music lovers and my concert’s line-up is full of Bolobedu, Venda and Tsonga musicians. I first hosted One Women Show in Botswana and the support was overwhelming. I hope the support will be even more in Venda,” said Makhadzi.

Open Mic Productions managing director and spokesperson for the show, advocate Nkateko Maluleke, said they look forward to a memorable homecoming event for Makhadzi.

“She took to the world’s stage and triumphed. Now it’s time for her fans to witness the magic live in their backyard. We at Open Mic are proud of Makhadzi’s achievements and are behind her all the way,” said Maluleke.

Gates open at 10:00 and tickets are selling at R200 at TicketPro.
