POLOKWANE – The suspect accused of murdering Lindie Oberholzer will next appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on September 26 for formal bail application.

Oberholzer was murdered in her home on August 17 and her body was found by her husband Obie and her son, Armand after returning from a hunting trip.

He was arrested in August following a foiled house robbery in Welgelegen and positively linked to Oberholzer’s murder.

It appears the suspect gained access to the house through a bathroom window – the only window in the house that is not protected by burglar bars.

“We suspect the attacker did not know there was anyone at home,” Oberholzer’s daughter, Anotnette Koekemoer said.

Oberholzer’s murder sent shockwaves through the community and the Women Taking Back Safety campaign organised an event the day after her murder at Vleislapa in Marshall Street, where she worked for many years, for residents to lay down a flower in her honour.
