Visit these SANParks for mahala this week

Acting CEO of LTA Sello Maleka said the objective of Wildlife Mahala week is to allow people to acquaint themselves with what local parks and resorts have to offer and create and instill a culture of travelling.

LIMPOPO – To improve local tourism, Ledet management put plans in action, including the SANParks open week, also known as the mahala week, in which residents can visit some of the provincial parks for free.

Citizens will have free entrance to some of the facilities managed by the Limpopo Wildlife Resorts, although the free access does not include accommodation and other tourism-related activities on offer at the facilities.

Ledet MEC Thabo Mokone said the main objective of the initiative is to drive domestic tourism by raising awareness and in the process encourage local residents to explore various tourism attractions in the province.

“We should all want to travel in and around our immaculate province and boost our local tourism in the process,” Mokone said.

Acting CEO of the Limpopo Tourism Agency Sello Maleka said the objective of Wildlife Mahala Week is to allow people to acquaint themselves with what local parks and resorts have to offer and create and instill a culture of traveling. “We also aim to create awareness on the conservation of nature,” he said.

Participating national parks in Limpopo include the Kruger National Park, Mapungubwe World Heritage Site and Marakele National Parks.

Polokwane Municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala said they are still finalising the dates and terms under which the residents can access the Polokwane Game Reserve.
