Foreign national arrested for dealing nyaope in Bendor

A tip-off regarding a red VW Polo delivering drugs in the area led to the arrest of a foreign national for possession and dealing in drugs.

POLOKWANE – A foreign national will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession and dealing in drugs following his arrest in Bendor

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the man is one of 1 640 suspects arrested during joint operations conducted across the province in all five districts between September 4-12.

Mojapelo said a tip-off regarding a red VW Polo delivering drugs in the area was followed up by police.

“The vehicle matching the description was located parked at the gate of the Hanani Estate and police requested permission to search it.”

During the search, nyaope with an estimated street value of R20 000 was found concealed in the vehicle and the man arrested.

Mojapelo said 2 175 counterfeit cigarettes, 585.03g of dagga, 10 dagga plants, 431.18g of crystal meth and 190g of nyaope were seized during the various operations as well as three firearms, over 817l of the liquor and 10 stolen/robbed motor vehicles.

“Investigations continue,” he said.
