The Limpopo High Court: Polokwane Division granted Corrie Pretorius bail of R20 000 earlier today (September 7) with conditions.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority’s regional spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, Pretorius is required to report to the Marble Hall Police Station every fortnight and was ordered to hand over his passport to the investigating officer.

Pretorius was filmed assaulting the teen, allegedly over the use of a salt shaker.

Malabi-Dzhangi said the complainant and his cousin were at the outlet when the victim asked to use the same seasoning as Pretorius.

“The accused allegedly became furious and started assaulting the boy by pushing him out of the store. He continued assaulting the boy while pointing him with a firearm and left the complainant lying on the ground,” she said.

Malabi-Dzhangi said the complainant was later taken to the Groblersdal Hospital where he received medical attention and was later discharged.

The video caused public outcry over Pretorius’ use of violence towards the minor.
