Mandrax worth R20 000 confiscated during drug bust in Westenburg

The provincial organised crime and crime intelligence units clamped down on illicit drug dealing during two separate busts in Westenburg and Bela-Bela.

POLOKWANE – The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has lauded members of the SAPS for hitting hard on drug dealers in the province following the arrest of two suspects in Westenburg in the early hours of Wednesday morning (August 31).

The suspects, aged 32 and 48 were arrested by the provincial organised crime unit and members of the provincial crime intelligence for dealing drugs in the area.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said mandrax with an estimated street value of R20 000 was confiscated.

Meanwhile, a 52-year old suspect was also arrested on the same day for dealing drugs.

“The suspect was arrested in Bela-Bela and was found with crystal meth and CAT worth R500 000,” he said.

The suspects appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court and Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court respectively, today (September 1) on charges of dealing in illicit drugs.

“Investigations continue,” Mojapelo said.
