EXCLUSIVE: Robbery stuns resident at Woodlands Estate

Three men, one armed, approached a resident in their vehicle at the entrance of Woodlands Estate on Saturday morning (August 27) and stole some possessions before driving away.

POLOKWANE – The management of Woodlands Estate and Apcan Security Services declined to comment pending an ongoing investigation of a robbery that happened at the entrance to the estate on Saturday morning (August 27).

Video footage supplied to the Polokwane Observer shows a resident stopping at the entrance gate at 10:34 when they are approached by three men.

Two of the suspects, one armed with a gun, approach the resident, while another approaches the passenger side of the vehicle.

One suspect then removes a bag from the boot of the vehicle before the trio walk back to a getaway vehicle while the resident looks on in disbelief.

Security, who are stationed at the entrance to the estate, are not seen in the video.

“We will decline to comment at this stage as police are still investigating the matter,” Woodlands management told Polokwane Observer.

Meanwhile, Apcan management said they are investigating how the CCTV footage was leaked and that the matter was being attended to by police.

Robbery at residential premises have increased in Polokwane according to the latest crime stats released by the South African Police Service for the three-month period April to June 2022.

Cases increased by 133.3% compared to the same period in 2021. Common robberies increased by 18.2%, while burglaries at residential premises increased by 26.2%.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the robbery and said cash and a laptop were taken at gun point.

“No arrests have been made as yet,” he said.
