Burst pipes and stolen cables leave taps dry in Polokwane

Residents' water frustrations to continue as the Polokwane Municipality attends to several issues affecting supply to the city.

POLOKWANE – Residents and businesses in most areas of supply will once again be without water according to the Polokwane Municipality.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said this is due to stolen electrical cables outside the Dalmada Water Purification Plant as well as burst pipes on the corner of Vermikuliet and Emerald Streets and in Westenburg.

“The CBD, Bendor, Sterpark, Flora Park, Fauna Park and Serala View are affected by the stolen cables, while Ladanna is affected by the burst pipe,” he said.

Selala added that both incidents are being attended to and that supply will be restored once fixed.

Residents in Westenburg and the extensions will also be without supply due to a burst pipe on a Lepelle North Water pipeline.

Selala said the matter has been reported to the water utility for urgent intervention.

He added that issues can be reported to the Water and Sanitation helpline on 015 290 2376.
