Limpopo man arrested for allegedly stoning teen girlfriend to death

The 23-year-old man appeared before the Nebo Magistrate's Court today on a charge of murder.

LIMPOPO – A 23-year-old man appeared before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court today (August 22) following his arrest for the murder of a 17-year-old girl on Saturday night (August 20).

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said the deceased was believed to have been the suspect’s girlfriend.

“Information received by police suggests the suspect was walking with the victim in Kome village when she received a call. The suspect accused her of cheating on him and stoned her to death,” Seabi said.

On arrival, police found the victim on the floor with injuries. “The victim was identified as Promise Tjatji,” he said.

Seabi confirmed that the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit took over the case for further investigation.
