Residents invited to mourn Lindie’s death

Adéle van der Linde from the Women Taking Back Safety campaign has urged residents to join in on their initiative later today (August 18).

POLOKWANE – Polokwane residents are still in shock after the murder of Lindie Oberholzer on Wednesday (August 17).

The Women Taking Back Safety campaign organised an event to honour her life.

Residents are urged to gather at Vleislapa in Marshall Street, where she worked for many years, at 17:00. Media liaison of the campaign, Adéle van der Linde, in a Facebook post, invited residents to bring flowers which will be placed in front of the store.

“A gruesome cloud of death has befallen us yet again as women of Polokwane. Our hearts are broken after having learned of a woman whose life was cut short and her loving care taken away from her family prematurely, by selfish individuals,” the post reads.

Meanwhile, police investigations are underway.

“Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) should contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Phillimon Ratsoma, on 072 808 1188 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. Alternatively, contact your nearest police station or send the information via the MySAPS App,” Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said earlier.
