Malamulele: Duo abandon bail in Mayor’s murder case

Shumani Nemadodzi (47) and Avhatakali Mulaudzi (42) face charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

LIMPOPO – The two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the Collins Chabane Municipality mayor Moses Maluleke (56) abandoned bail in the Malamulele Magistrates’ Court earlier today (August 10).

Shumani Nemadodzi (47) and Avhatakali Mulaudzi (42) face charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Maluleke was shot and killed outside his home in Xikundu Village on July 21 during an attack in which his teenage son was injured.

“It is alleged the accused gained access to the premises of the deceased and shot him. The incident happened while the deceased was with his 18-year-old son,” NPA Limpopo spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said.

Three suspects were initially arrested, however, one was released after investigations could not positively link him to the incident.

Malabi-Dzhangi said the men were remanded in custody until their next appearance on September 19.
