Missing man’s body found floating in the Mogalakwena River

The SAPS' Search and Rescue Unit was dispatched to the scene after a fisherman discovered the lifeless body of 21-year-old, Brian Rammutla.

MOKOPANE – The Police in Mahwelereng have opened an inquest docket after the body of Brian Rammutla (21) was retrieved from the Mogalakwena River on Monday afternoon (August 8).

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the SAPS’ Search and Rescue Unit were dispatched to the scene after fishermen discovered Rammutla’s body floating in the river.

Mojapelo said the deceased was reported missing at the Mahwelereng Police Station on July 16 after he left home to visit his grandfather in the Moshate village but never arrived.

“The body was retrieved with the assistance of the local police and in the presence of the local community,” he said.

Mojapelo said it is unclear how the deceased got into the river but unfolding police investigations will reveal the cause of death.

“We appeal to the community to give us space to fully investigate the matter. Anyone with information regarding this incident may contact the crime stop number 08600 10111, the nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp,” he said.
