4 killed in separate collisions on the R101

Four people were killed in two separate motor vehicle incidents on the R101 last night (August 5).

LIMPOPO – Transport MEC Polly Boshielo has sent her condolences to the families of the four people who lost their lives last night (August 5).

Departmental spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said the first incident was reported in the Waterberg district. “It is reported that a sedan and heavy motor vehicle collided at the weighbridge in the area,” she said and added that one of the drivers reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign.

Chuene said the male driver and two female passengers in the sedan were killed. “Another passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby for medical attention.”

The second collision, on the same road, occurred near The Ranch Resort in the Capricorn district. “A sedan collided with a heavy motor vehicle, and the possible cause of the collision has been noted as speeding.”

Boshielo made a plea with motorists: “Obey the rules of the road at all times, so that you arrive alive at your destinations.”
