In search of Capricorn’s finest choristers

Choir conductor and director Richard Nonyana from Polokwane is on the hunt for passionate and dedicated individuals to join Harmonious Melodies Chamber Choir.

POLOKWANE – Choir conductor and director Richard Nonyana (35), also known as Maestro Richard, previously directed his choir to compete in various competitions across the country, but most of the choristers relocated to other provinces for school or work.

“I’m in search of another great team with who we can rebuild and revive the choir culture in our province,” Nonyana said.

Interested candidates should be aged between 21-50 and be specifically situated within the Capricorn district.

Those who want to apply for the choir has to make a one-minute video wherein they mention their name, surname, age, area they’re from and give a taste of what their voice sounds like.

When Nonyana fills his team, he will start to prepare them for a big competition that takes place in October.

“In the past seven years that I have been in this industry, I learned that to be part of a choir strengthens the feeling of togetherness, regulates our heart rates and it reduces our stress levels and depression,” Nonyana explained.

He added that a lesser-known fact about being part of a choir is that it also improves symptoms of Parkinson’s and lung disease, as well as improves an individual’s social well-being.

Video applications should be sent to Nonyana on 078 946 6231 on or before July 31.
