Thabang Lekota, owner of Segway Balance Tours, launched his new business venture in collaboration with Park Inn on February 6.

POLOKWANE – Introducing an exciting new adventure in Polokwane, the owner of Segway Balance Tours, Thabang Lekota collaborated with Park Inn by Radisson Polokwane to launch the first Segway experience in the city on Thursday.

Various stakeholders and government officials were invited to join the event. Park Inn’s general manager, Dudu Nxumalo welcomed everyone and Lekota explained what Segway is all about. “I’m happy to bring this new adventure to Polokwane. I’ve collaborated with Park Inn to add a different experience for guests who want to enjoy safari tours to the Polokwane Game Reserve while riding on the off-road Segways from the hotel. We will take the sidewalks route to the game reserve as we go in groups of four or six and back,” he said.

The experience is especially for adventurous people who love exploring, he said.

“The drive tours will take about an hour, and our tour guides will be present to ensure a safe and smooth to-and-from trip.”

The Segway trips will give guests the opportunity to effortlessly glide through the game reserve while observing wildlife.

“All of this can be done whilst experiencing the magic of riding a Segway, how exciting and convenient is that?” Lekota said. Artists Vicky Sampson and Mahlatse ‘Vokal’ Matji entertained guests at the launch.

After the launch, some guests stepped onto the two-wheeler Segways. Park Inn risk manager, Morné Bezuidenhout and Lekota ensured helmets were secured and proper instructions were handed out.

The 60-minute Segway tour to the game reserve is R590 inclusive of game reserve entry fee and the stadium tour is R390. Guests must be at reception 15 minutes ahead of their scheduled time. Group tours are also available starting from two people and 10 people max. Individual tours are also welcome.
