Action at the Jakaranda ringball courts

The focus of training for those aged between nine and 15 were goal-throwing and speed games.

POLOKWANE – New ringball players and those who had to dust off the skills, enjoyed an afternoon of practice during the Jakaranda Ringball Club’s recruitment day on Saturday in the city’s sporting precinct.

The aim was to invite more residents to join the club through a day of training, and reminding them of how enjoyable as well as physically and mentally beneficial the sport is, the club’s Petrus Coetzee said.

“After seven years of not playing, the skill is still there, but not so much the ability to keep up with the pace of players who are active in the game. I really enjoyed the challenge nonetheless,” one of the players, Maritsa Roelefse said.

The focus of training for those aged between nine and 15 were goal-throwing, speed games and ball management, while a maximum of 10 new capable senior players were sought to join the team full-time.
