Preparations underway to host SASA-II tournament

Learners will be competing in various sport codes including soccer, netball, athletics, basketball, cross-country and futsal.

POLOKWANE – The South African Sports Association for the Intellectually Impaired (SASA-II) Limpopo prepares to welcome all provinces for a tournament taking place in Polokwane from October 1-6.

Preparations are underway with the players in the various sporting codes going through the paces to ensure readiness. They will be competing in sporting codes including soccer, netball, athletics, basketball, cross-country and futsal.

Rocky Makgoka, the provincial chairperson for SASA-II Limpopo explained that on August 8-9, they had their second training camp at the Seshego Stadium in preparation of the games. They will also host another camp the weekend before the games begin.

“We are so excited that our learners will be participating in the games. They are fit and ready, and we have learners from schools in all districts in the province taking part, which we are very happy about,” she said.

Makgoka added that this is a milestone for the province.

“This is a group that was previously not focused on. especially in their communities. We are happy that they have been given a chance to participate and be aware of what is happening in their communities,” she said.
