Trio of honours for cricketer Morné Venter

Venter said despite his accolades he will continue working hard and giving his best efforts in Cricket South Africa matches.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane born cricketer, Morné Venter was bestowed with Limpopo Impala Cricket’s player of the year and batsmen of the year and players’ player of the year award at the federation’s awards ceremony recently held in Polokwane.

The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form since joining Impalas from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University seasons ago and has helped the home team win some of their crucial matches.

He is an all round cricketer who has a right arm fast seam bowling and batting ability.

He boasts many cricket awards won earlier in his career as a cricketer.

“I started playing cricket when I was very young. I was a regular player for the Limpopo u/13 cricket team and the u/19 Khaya Majola Coca-Cola Week provincial cricket team which I captained. I won several awards at my alma mater, PHS and in the provincial cricket leagues.”

Venter said despite his accolades he will continue working hard and giving his best efforts in Cricket South Africa matches.

“I just want to remain the best I can be. I wanted to start the season on a good tone and the award has just given me that extra boost. I still harbour ambitions of playing for a top cricket franchise in the world and I want to improve my game every season and perform to my best ability in all matches. I also want to help Impalas go to the first division of South African cricket. We have good players in the team and we can reach the first division.”

He will be in the batting line-up when Impalas host Mpumalanga Rhinos in the first week of October.

“We have to win the match. It will be our first home match of the season so we have made good use of our home ground advantage. We will play in front of our families and supporters and we have to make them proud.”
