POLOKWANE – Parents and guardians of learners at Good Hope Primary School have been requested to collect them from the premises as the school has no water.
A burst pipe in Buys Street has left residents with no water overnight, however repairs have begun.
An urgent notice was sent out to parents and the area’s Ward Councilor Joosuf Pemma said a tanker has been requested to provide relief.
Pemma said there were delays in repairs and that a valve had to be opened in Ben Harris Street on Wednesday (July 27) to release pressure in order for the pipe to be repaired.
“A contractor is on site as they have secured the parts needed for repairs. It will take a few more hours as water is still gushing out of the pipe,” he said.
Polokwane Municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala confirmed that repairs will be completed in three to four hours.
“Supply to Nirvana and Westenburg is affected as a result,” he said.
