‘Tiny’ has big plans for a youth choir in Westenburg

Janet 'Tiny' Bezuidenhout is looking for girls and boys to join her choir and hopes to unearth an array of talent in the community through it.

POLOKWANE – Getting young people away from the streets is Janet ‘Tiny’ Bezuidenhout’s priority.

For this reason, Janet is calling on the youth, both male and female to join her choir in Westenburg.

Janet is not new to music and has a marching brass band called the Bezzies Marching Brass Band in which she works with the youth from Seshego and surrounding villages.

She decided to start the choir upon the request of parents in Westenburg who have seen her brass band performing at events.

“Parents asked for their children to join in and due to the numerous requests, I’ve decided to act on it,” she said.

Janet said there are many benefits to being a member of a choir.

These include:
• The youth having less opportunity to abuse drugs.
• Parents will have less stress regarding their children’s whereabouts.
• It will boost confidence.
• It will give the youth a sense of belonging.
• It will help them discover their talents.

“Everyone has a talent and being part of a choir will help discover it,” she said.
