Leeto la Polokwane operations to resume on Wednesday

The Polokwane Municipality met with the Seshego Polokwane, Flora Park, and Westenburg Taxi Associations and other stakeholders over their concerns that led to the suspension of Leeto la Polokwane operations today.

POLOKWANE – Leeto la Polokwane (LLP) bus services will resume operation on Wednesday (July 27) after deliberations with members of the taxi industry.

Operations were suspended early this morning (July 26) after a blockade at the depot by the Seshego Polokwane Taxi Association and left commuters stranded for the day.

The Seshego Polokwane Taxi Association said the blockade was as a result of the Polokwane Municipality’s failure to hold their end of a bargain endeared into a memorandum of agreement signed in 2017.

LLP spokesperson Rebotile Malakalaka said they have noted concerns raised by the Seshego Polokwane, Flora Park, and Westenburg Taxi Associations.

Among other issues discussed, Malakalaka said the issue of increasing fares in light of the rising fuel/diesel prices was also discussed and that the Polokwane Municipality resolved to engage internally on the matter.

“The municipality will deliberate on the fare increment issue raised by stakeholders and revert to the associations in the coming days,” she said.

Malakalaka added that LLP’s objective is to provide a safe, reliable and affordable public transportation service and as such, they are open to robust consultations and engagements to iron out concerns raised by stakeholders.
