Man (33) killed in R521 head-on collision

Reckless driving has been cited as a possible cause for the collision.

POLOKWANE – A man (33) was burnt beyond recognition and confirmed dead on the scene of a head-on collision on the R521.

The Department of Transport and Community Safety’s spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said the vehicle the man was travelling in collided head-on with a heavy motor vehicle and caught fire.

“Reckless driving is suspected to have been the cause of the collision,” she said.


POLOKWANE – One person was killed in a motor vehicle incident on the R521 at Ga-Hlahla about 35km from Polokwane.

According to the Polokwane Alerts Group the incident involved a heavy motor vehicle and a bakkie, which caught fire.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the driver of the bakkie was burnt.

The Department of Transport and Community Safety’s spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said the road is closed and that all emergency services are on the scene.

“Delays are expected and motorists are urged to use alternative routes and to exercise patience while on the road,” she said.
