ANC Limpopo defends premier’s exco reshuffle

The ANC Limpopo's communications manager Phuti Lekganyane said the changes made are expected to intensify momentum in the creation of employment and delivery of quality services.

POLOKWANE – The ANC party caucus in the Limpopo Legislature said Premier Chupu Mathabatha’s changes to his executive committee should be viewed in light of government’s continous desire to highten service delivery to the people of Limpopo.

Mathabatha was applauded for “using his prerogative” after the announcement on Wednesday (June 29), which his spokesperson Willy Mosoma said was made based on Members of the Executive Council’s (MEC) performance assessment.

Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya moved to Education, while Polly Boshielo is the new Transport and Community Safety MEC. Nkakareng Rakgoale replaces Dr Dickson Masemola as Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC who takes over from her as the Social Development MEC.

Six of the MECs remained in their current positions:

  • Dr Phophi Ramathuba (Health)
  • Seaparo Sekwati (Treasury)
  • Nandi Ndalane (Agriculture)
  • Thabo Mokone (Economic Development, Environment and Tourism)
  • Basikopo Makamu (Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs)
  • Thandi Moraka (Sport, Arts and Culture)

The ANC Limpopo’s communications manager Phuti Lekganyane said the changes made are expected to intensify momentum in the creation of employment and delivery of quality services.

“Premier Mathabatha’s initiative of making MEC’s sign performance agreements is starting to yield results. The ANC caucus is confident that these cadres, who have a traceable service delivery record in various previous deployment roles, will continue to serve the people of this province with diligence,” he said.
