POLOKWANE – Motorists using the R71 had to find alternative routes this morning as the road was closed by protestors near the Stevens Lumbar Mill.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed the protest action to the Polokwane Review and said that the Haenertsburg Police Station’s station commander was on the scene.
“The community is protesting over the release of one of two suspects arrested who was released on bail. The road was closed next to the Stevens Lumber Mill but has been cleared,” he said.
Mojapelo said the suspects were arrested for housebreakings and other crimes in the area and that the suspect who got bail is the son of the local Induna.
