Mourners salute well-known businessman Theo Mphosi

The funeral of Global Oil CEO and businessman Theo Mphosi was attended by scores of business people and politicians including EFF leader Julius Malema, Member of Parliament Vuyani Pambo, the Deputy Minister of Police, Cassel Mathale and Polokwane Mayor John Mpe, among others.

POLOKWANE – Mphosi passed away on June 5 and the cause of his death was revealed by the family.

Malema referred to Mphosi’s passing as “premature” while Mphosi’s uncle, Molebatsi Mohlahlana wished during the memorial service that should his death have been orchestrated, those who propelled it not find peace.

Mphosi’s memorial service was held on June 7 in his home located at Broadlands Estate in Polokwane, and he was laid to rest on June 11 at his parental home of Rheinland village, Bochum. Speaking on behalf of Mphosi’s colleagues at Global Oil, manager Faith Mahlakoane lauded Mphosi’s business acumen saying they started with five filling stations with Mphosi striving for dominance in the petroleum sector, growing the business to 138 filling stations.

“Mphosi was the real captain of this company. He was passionate and disciplined about how things should be done.”

Another manager at the group, Clifford Gonyane asked mourners to pray for them as they now face the reality of picking up where Mphosi has left off. Mohlalana assured Global workers that there is a succession plan in place.

Malema praised Mphosi for his business venture, saying he created employment. “Everyone will remember Theo. There is no need for any street with his name. His contribution speaks for itself.”

Mphosi’s brother, Lazarus pledged during the service to ensure that his brother’s wife and children, who now feel a huge void, will be taken care of.
