Limpopo toddler (4) electrocuted to death by live wire

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the child was walking with his siblings in the Burgersdorp Village when the incident happened.

LIMPOPO – The police in Maake, outside Tzaneen, have opened a case of inquest after a four-year-old boy was electrocuted to death by an open live wire on Sunday (June 12).

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the child was walking with his siblings in the Burgersdorp Village when the incident happened.

“The children ran home to inform their mother that their younger brother was shocked by live wire that was lying on the ground. The boy was certified dead on the scene by emergency personnel,” he said.

The Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged residents to report illegal activity such as illegal electricity connections to the police in order to prevent these type of incidents from happening.

Mojapelo said investigations continue.
