Limpopo man arrested in connection with murder of teacher

The man was arrested last month after the victim laid a charge of rape against him and was released on R500 bail on June 1.

LIMPOPO – The Provincial Police Commisioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the Hlogotlou Police Station Commander and her team for the arrest of a 34-year-old man who allegedly murdered a 27-year-old woman on June 11.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the victim was murdered in Dindela village and explained that the woman had laid a charge of rape against her ex-boyfriend in May and he was arrested. He was released on June 1 on R500 bail.

“The victim was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the bedroom of her house on Sunday (June 12). Sexual assault cannot be ruled out,” Mojapelo said.

He added that the victim’s motor vehicle was found abandoned at the Suiwerfontein fields.

“The Station Commander led the local task team that conducted an operation and managed to apprehend the suspect. He was found in possession of the deceased’s cellphone and her car keys,” he said.

“The suspect will face charges of murder and house robbery and will appear in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court soon,” Mojapelo said.
