Solly Malatsi Foundation gifts disabled child with new wheelchair

POLOKWANE – The Solly Malatsi Legacy Foundation gifted a disabled child, Mamagana Ramonyai of Makwalaneng village in the Mankweng area, with a brand-new wheelchair on May 22.

Mamagana was born with a spinal disability which left him unable to walk. The child’s plea was brought to the attention of the foundation by its logistics manager, Irad Mamaregane, during one of the foundation’s outreach programmes earlier this year.

Mamagana’s mother, Monene, was overwhelmed with gratitude when they handed the wheelchair over to them.

“I would like to thank Solly Malatsi Legacy Foundation. We have been struggling for a long time to get a wheelchair, so I can run errands and move around the yard with my child. He is too heavy to carry on my back all the time.”

Foundation founder Solly Malatsi said it was important for his organisation to hand over this wheelchair to restore the dignity of both the mom and child, given their struggles.

“No one, more so a child, should have their freedom of movement limited or hindered because of their poor circumstances. We are thankful to our partners, the Amitofo Care Centre, who assisted us with sourcing the wheelchair,” Malatsi said.
