POLOKWANE – The non-profit organisation God’s Hope Community Organisation in Extention 76 near Madiba Park is run by Frank Matovu and Charle Kiti and was established in early 2021 with the aim to assist children in need in the area.

Today, the organisation supports more than 100 children between the ages of one month old to 18 years, who need support with the basic necessities such as clothes, mattresses, blankets, food packages, toiletries and toys.

God’s Hope Community Organisation survives on donations from private companies, individuals and other initiatives.

The non-profit organisation, God’s Hope Community Organisation, helps to change the community.

According to Matovu, the organisation was established due to the number of families he saw struggling to clothe and feed their children and spoke to BONUS about the challenges they face as a small organisation in a small community.

“We have no endorsement from the government and we rely mostly on the donations we get from private companies and kind individuals who come and support us either with food packages, clothes or volunteering their time.”

He added their challenges are mostly financial as it requires a lot of donations to keep the initiative afloat.

“During lockdown things became more difficult for us because donors were not able to come and give donations like they usually would. We were faced with serious challenges because the donors we were very dependent on were not able to donate goods, which put a strain on us and we had to use money from our own pockets.”
