Limpopo Mall donates 83 pairs of school shoes

With thorough research and the use of social media, Limpopo Mall, in collaboration with Resilient Reit, selected a beneficiary of a generous school shoes donation.

POLOKWANE – The mall donated 83 pairs of school shoes on April 28 to Mothiba Primary School as they were informed that most learners do not have the proper shoes to walk to school with. Limpopo Mall centre manager Carien de Beer told Polokwane Observer the mall wanted to find out where they can assist the community.

“On Facebook we asked the community members to nominate a school that needs a donation of school shoes the most and after confirmation, we saw the need at Mothiba Primary School,” she said.

According to De Beer, Limpopo Mall realised there are a lot of frequent donation drives hosted within the community, but they tend to forget about the school children. “Most children in the community need school uniforms and stationery. Some learners don’t even have sanitary towels to go to school with, which is why we decided to put our focus on the learners. During winter, no child deserves to walk to school barefoot or with inappropriate shoes. We are happy and proud to donate these shoes as they will indeed go a long way,” De Beer said.

Mothiba Primary School principal Maphuti Marule said the learners appreciate the school shoes very much. “Some of the learners’ shoes are damaged and worn out, while other learners wear shoes that don’t fit them anymore because they have outgrown them. We would like to thank Resilient Reit and Limpopo Mall for this generous donation. We feel delighted and blessed,” Marule said.

School departmental head Mantji Sefara said more donations like these will be appreciated. “The community can see the good work from Limpopo Mall. With that being said, more help from the community will be appreciated and will go a long way,” Sefara added.
