Reservoir levels ‘strained’, says Muni

Water tankers will be sent to areas that experience water shortages.

POLOKWANE – Eskom’s implementation of load-shedding this week is among one of the ‘challenges’ that has resulted in ‘strained’ reservoir levels.

This is according to a statement by municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala, who said the water utility Lepelle Northern Water has experienced multiple difficulties in order to provide consistant water supply.

“The challenges faced at both their main sources; the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort schemes, have resulted in strained reservoir levels,” Selala explained.

Besides load-shedding, LNW has listed constant power failures and a cooling pump failure among various challenges experienced at their schemes.

“The municipality will monitor areas that experience water shortages and provide temporary relief to them. Normal water supply shall be restored once reservoir levels have recovered,” Selala said.

He urged residents to report water-related challenges, such as leaks and wastage, to the municipal Water and
Sanitation Call Centre on 015 290 2376.

LNW previously gave Review a thorough explanation regarding ongoing water challenges.
