The founder of Pregnant With A Purpose, Tshanduko Nemutanzhela (31) from Thohoyandou Unit E, now called Mvuso Park, said she started her organisation in 2021 after she realised that some women who fell pregnant out of wedlock or who are single mothers suffer in the form of financial, emotional and spiritual challenges.

Nemutanzhela hopes to help all single and expecting mothers to realise there is still hope and that they still have a place in the community if they stand up for themselves.

She told CV that she is a single mother herself who fell pregnant without being married herself, and proudly said: “There is life after pregnancy out of wedlock. You should show the nation that God has created you with a purpose on Earth and you are able achieve incredible things if you are determined.”

She added that her organisation, also acts as a voice for the voiceless and alleviates patriarchy and judgment from society, not through condoning the act but responding with love instead of fighting, because love forgives a multitude of sins.

“We have to create an atmosphere of love where women, who were shunned by society and religious organisations can thrive free of judgment or condemnation. We will also offer them skills development programmes and counselling in order to provide the needed support to single mothers and show our love, so that women can stand up and provide for themselves,” said Nemutanzhela.

According to her, they are expecting about 50 people to attend the event at the botanical gardens so far, and the invitation remains open for single mothers and women who fell pregnant out of wedlock, as well as teenage mothers, and divorced and widowed women.

Those interested to attend can contact Nemutanzhela on 079 761 9585 or through her email address: tshandukofaith@gmail.com.
