VIDEO: Westies golden girls prepare for Golden Games

The Westenburg Golden Girls Club is a safe space for women over the age of 60 to gather, exercise and form lifetime bonds.

POLOKWANE – The Westenburg Golden Girls are ready to take on the Golden Games.

The club, which was founded in July 2013, provides a safe space for women over the age of 60 to gather, exercise and form lifetime bonds.

The club has lost a number of its members due to Covid-19, however, this year they’re starting afresh with new zeal.

They are currently eyeing the Golden Games, which is an initiative by the Office of the Premier, and are working hard to qualify for the competition. They will be participating under the Polokwane cluster and are hard at work to make sure that they do well.

Dora Buys, the club’s coordinator said they hope some of their members will be selected at the clusters in order to participate at a district level.

“We are also hoping that some of our members will be making it to the national competition which will take place in Cape Town this year,” she said. Read more about the club in this week’s Polokwane Observer.
